Alternative Wedding Accessories

Spring is here and wedding plans are brewing !

We have a nice selection of accessories that would be the perfect alternative addition to any wedding look.

In the image below from a recent photoshoot by Kalian Lo with hair and make up by Magdalena Slazak, Tríona styled the BEAUTIFUL Emer O’Carroll in this vintage shawl embroidered with coral pink and orange flowers and a hand made pom pom headpiece (to order, get in touch for details).

Other stand out pieces that would add an unusual touch to your outfit include these 1980′s Manolo Blahnik pink snakeskin shoes and 1950′s sequins cap, which, worn with an updo to the side of the head, would make a great alternative to a veil.

Sourcing For Galway Restaurants

A big part of our work is sourcing items for clients. Below is just a taster of some bits we have sourced for, and Astór products spotted in, some of Galway’s best restaurants.

Ard Bia:

Clockwise from top left: Vintage Maps of Iceland (pic from Ard Bia Facebook), Enamelware Storage Pots – vinyl wording was added to make these pots into functioning dry storage for the kitchen, Iceland Maps (photo as before), Industrial Lampshades, Vintage Soda Crates – used here to display cordials, Vintage Coat Hanger – displays the fab Ard Bia totes, Wooden Chair, Vintage Industrial Lamp – used at the upstairs wine bar. We also have a small pop-up shop in Ard Bia where you will find vintage crates, linens and enamelware.

Kai:

Cava Bodega:

It was great to hear of Cava reopening on Middle Street last year, Drigín got in touch looking for chairs and lighting to fit her design. The industrial lighting (similar here) and simple vintage library chairs really suit the space. Thanks to Drigín for the pictures! See more here.

Mr. Fish

We are very lucky to have this amazing piece of fashion history in store. Bought from a Kerry Taylor Auction this blue, late 60′s , velvet men’s jacket is by the label Mr. Fish, designed by Michael Fish.

Described as an “important contributor” to the 1960′s men’s ‘Peacock Revolution’ by The Victoria & Albert Museum, Fish was said to be inspired by dandies of time, particularly Christopher Gibbs, a socialite, Antique Dealer and apparently the inspiration for Mike Myers’ costumes in the Austin Powers series of movies.

Our beautiful jacket was also recently featured in Kerry Taylor’s book Vintage Fashion and Couture: From Poiret to McQueen (available here). This beautiful book is full of photographs and information of some of the worlds biggest designers and features a style icon for each decade. Totally worth a read for anyone into vintage.

Hallway Styling

If you’re lucky enough to have a big entryway to your home using large furniture can be a great way to make it feel cosy.

In the pic below we have centered our hallway display at home around an old record player (similar in store here). Adding light with a standard lamp and storage with crates and suitcases, it makes a change from the usual coat racks and phone stands.

The round, mid century mirror (on right) is a new addition to the shop, get in touch for more information.

Basement Bar

The amazing Kailian Lo took some photos of our basement bar during the summer.

You can see how we have accessorised the bare wood bar and crates with colourful bottles (available in store), taxidermy and bright prints.

A similar telephone can be found on our website here and we have a pair of Bentwood high stools that would be perfect for any counter or breakfast bar.
